2025 marks a significant milestone for Toffoletto De Luca Tamajo, an employment law and HR advisory firm for businesses: 100 years of activity. From the transformation of employment law in the twentieth century to the age of artificial intelligence, the firm has been supporting companies through the evolution of the labour market, interpreting the needs of organisations of all sizes and sectors.
Founded in 1925 in Milan by Angelo Toffoletto and expanded by his son Umberto between 1950 and 1995, the firm has navigated a century of change, broadening its activities and territorial presence. In 2024, Toffoletto De Luca Tamajo recorded a 7% increase in turnover compared to the previous year, exceeding 32 million euros. This ongoing growth is driven by a clear business vision that blends entrepreneurial spirit with a process of internal professional management. In recent years, the firm has built a team of managers to adopt business-oriented approaches and operate more efficiently and responsively to market developments and client needs.
Today, the firm includes over 100 professionals, 30 partners and 12 offices across Italy, and continues its growth journey, supported over time by strategic alliances, investments in technology, and a constant focus on innovation.
“Growth has always been our priority, and innovation the means to achieve it,” says Franco Toffoletto, managing partner and grandson of the founder. “Since the 1990s we’ve invested in digitalisation – we were among the creators of tools such as Easylex, the first legal software designed by lawyers. And since 2015, with Elibra, which builds on and expands Easylex’s capabilities, we’ve continued in the same direction.”
A national and international evolution. Back in 2001, Franco Toffoletto was one of the founding members of Ius Laboris, the global alliance that brings together more than 1,500 employment law experts in over 50 countries. In Italy, a key step in the firm’s network expansion came in 2012, with the merger with the firm of Professor Raffaele De Luca Tamajo – founded by his father Domenico in 1948 in Naples – initiating a strategy of acquiring other firms and opening new offices across the country.
“The merger of our firms marked an evolutionary step, rooted in shared values and a common vision of the profession,” says Professor Raffaele De Luca Tamajo, senior partner at Toffoletto De Luca Tamajo. “We’ve combined tradition and forward thinking, creating a firm capable of responding effectively to the transformations of the world of work.”
Growth has not only been territorial but also extended into new areas of activity, with key milestones such as the creation of the R&D department in 2015, the integration of tax expertise in 2017, and the launch of HR advisory and payroll services in 2020. “The legal and employment law professions have changed more in the last twenty years than in the previous fifty,” adds Franco Toffoletto. “This is why combining legal advice, digital tools and multidisciplinary expertise is essential to help businesses navigate the complexities of workforce management.”
Companies today face new challenges, from changes in hybrid work regulations to global mobility, from pay transparency to the impact of digital transformation. In response, Toffoletto De Luca Tamajo has developed a number of tailored solutions to support businesses. A concrete example is Futuhro®, a digital system that streamlines HR administration, supports strategic decisions and improves organisational efficiency.
“Alongside growth, we place great emphasis on professional training,” continues Toffoletto. With an average age of 39 and a strong presence of Millennials and Gen Z, the firm is investing in new generations and continuous learning as a further strategic pillar. “We look to the future with the same spirit we were founded on: innovating to create value,” he concludes, reaffirming the vision that has guided the firm for a century.
